There is a natural separation, or ‘gap’, that exists between your business problem
and our technical expertise. No one understands your business better than you, and
that includes us. So, it is vital that we begin by gathering information about your
processes and infrastructure.
The Strategic Gap TM Analysis
This is the most important stage in creating your Solution. Every task that is performed
and every item that is constructed are based on this stage. You need confidence
that we understand your vision. We need confidence that all business processes and
infrastructure that are foundational to your vision are specifically defined and
documented. This is your business: we can help when we understand your business.
- We begin by giving you homework: you gather information about the business processes
and infrastructure based on the vision.
- Once you have gathered your information,
we meet with you to document each step of each process. Again, this is critical:
this forces an explicit definition of the entire process, so that we understand
that process exactly the way you understand it.
- Once each process is defined,
we identify:
- technologies currently used in the process;
- persons and groups (players)
that participate in the process;
- processes that are dependant upon the completion
of the process
- processes that this process depends upon
- results that
this process delivers
Throughout this Stage, we continually revisit the vision to capture all information
that is relevant to your vision. The result is a document that defines:
- problems to be solved;
- benefits to be gained by your vision;
- the
players in your vision; and
- a step-by-step definition of the business processes
integral to your Solution.
